FAQ: Why do chiropractors use X-rays for chiropractic treatment?
< Back to list of FAQs.
X-ray helps chiropractic adjustment by detecting of structural body problems
X-ray technology is used for detection of any structural problems in
the body. X-rays and visible light both possess photon particles. This
energy can be used to expose the internal structure of the entire body.
Such pictures can be used as a point of reference to highlight the
underlying problems with the body structure.
An interesting fact
is that X-rays were discovered after the discovery of chiropractic
adjustment in the year 1895. X-rays were accidentally discovered by a
German Physics Professor, Wilhelm Roentgen. Both, X-ray technology and
chiropractic have come a long way since then.
X-ray help detect back pains
Chiropractics may
use X-rays for the following functions:
- Confirm if the patient is not suffering from diseases like cancer or other diseases caused due to pathogens
- Identify any signs of trauma or fractures
- Try to find out any signs of long-term spinal decay
- Verify any other examination results
Use of diagnostic imaging techniques such as X-rays, CT scans and MRI has proved to be a helpful tool in the understanding and treatment of a patient.

When I think of the treatment I have had over the years, all to no avail, and you were my ‘last resort’ in future you will be my ‘first stop.’
