Chiropractic clinic London - properly educated chiropractors
Chiropractic education today
Today’s chiropractic education has great emphasis on science. Like all other health
care professionals, the educational requirements for chiropractors
today are very stringent by all standards and have 4-5 years full time
university education. BSC or MSC and 1 year Post Graduate Qualification
D.C.
Education that chiropractors gained a few decades ago was
deliberately narrow. This type of chiropractic education did not focus on performing
surgery or prescribing medicines. Instead, this chiropractic education
focused on adjusting techniques, the philosophy of natural healing,
anatomy and the wisdom of the body.
However, education
provided for chiropractors today is much wider. In fact, college
education provided to chiropractors is much like the education medical
practitioners receive. Hence, there is a lot of emphasis on classroom
training and laboratory work in public health, physiology,
biochemistry, microbiology, anatomy and pathology. The focus is later
shifted to specialised subjects that include chiropractic practice and
philosophy in addition to adjustment methods and chiropractic
diagnosis.
Along with these, students of chiropractic are
taught to look for cases, which would not require chiropractic and how
to diagnose pathology. They also have to go through practical training
in providing adjustments. During this time, they are supervised by
skilled clinicians. All chiropractors within the UK are registered with
GCC for practice purposes.

Do chiropractors prescribe drugs?
No,
chiropractors do not prescribe drugs. Chiropractors do not study
surgery or pharmacology either. However, they receive an in-depth
training in:
- physiology
- anatomy
- diagnosis
- nutrition
- X-ray
- rehabilitation
In addition to this, they are taught a range of adjustment techniques that practitioners of other health care disciplines are not taught.
