Headaches

We first consulted Mr. Gary Weber at Basildon Chiropractic Clinic last April, having seen an advertisement in a local newspaper.

At that time our then eight year old son, Dominic, was suffering from daily headaches.  At school, though bright, he seemed unable to concentrate and rarely completed his full day’s work.  We had worked with his teachers to find a solution but nothing seemed to have much effect.

Dominic was born with a twisted neck muscle (torticollis) and has been seeing an Orthopaedic Consultant at regular intervals.  It was thought that his scoliosis, which by then was quite noticeable, could have been contributing to the headaches.  The Orthopaedic Consultant was happy to refer us to Mr. Weber.

A little over six months later, Dominic’s spine is noticeably straighter.  For the first time in his four and half years at school his teacher has reported that he is working hard, concentration well and getting his work done consistently.  He has not had any headaches since mid July and is a much happier disposition generally.  His Orthopaedic Consultant has confirmed the improvement in his spine.

Dominic’s treatments have reduced from twice weekly, in April, to once a month with some simple stretching exercises to carry out at home; we are delighted with the changes in him.

Yours sincerely
Keith and Judy Hoskins

Migraine Headaches

I felt I needed to put in writing my immense gratitude for the wonderfully beneficial treatment I have received from you.

When I first came to you in July last year, as I told you then, you were my last hope in trying to find some relief for my health problems.  I have to admit a certain amount if cynicism when after X rays and examination you said you would be able to cure my Migraine, dizzy head and back and neck problems.  However within weeks, after intensive treatment I was very much better and now nine months later I cannot believe the difference to my life.

As you know my husband normally attends with me and whilst somewhat sceptical to begin with, he now wishes we had known about you years ago.

My biggest relief is in being able to make plans, without the awful fear that I would have to cancel them owing to another Migraine attack.  Whilst I have the occasional Migraine, this I can cope with.  As I have told you I have had them for forty odd years and they often necessitate me spending days in bed.  So as I say the odd one I can manage.  It is also such a relief not to have to be continually taking medication.

When I think of the treatment I have had over the years, all to no avail, and you were my ‘last resort’ in future you will be my ‘first stop.’

Yours sincerely
Elizabeth Ann Tooke

Headaches

I would just like to express my thanks for the treatment I have received at your clinic.  I was recommended to come and see you by our school nurse Mrs. Smalley.  I have suffered with headaches practically all my life but the last two years have been particularly bad.  I had a span of 6 moths and then one of 3 months with continuous headaches.  I had tried homeopathy, acupuncture, hypnosis, relaxation classes, cortisone injections etc. but all to no avail and I had really given up hope of ever feeling better.  However, after only a few treatments with you there was a noticeable decrease in the frequency and severeness of my headaches.  After two months of intensive treatment not only have my headaches eased off, I feel much better overall.

I have since recommended three of my colleagues and my husband to come to you for treatment.

Keep up the good work.

Yours sincerely,
Mrs Marianne Morgan

Laura's Story

In the summer of 1996 Laura was a confident, intelligent, happy and healthy 11 year old child.  That Autumn she started to have a series of chest infections that ended up as asthma.  The relevant drugs were administered.

Late Autumn her knee collapsed and she was unable to walk.  Pain killers were prescribed and we were told to go home and await a hospital appointment.  Eventually Laura saw an Orthopaedic surgeon who refused to listen to her fathers please to look at her back as he instinctively felt there was a problem there.

Physiotherapy did help her knee problem.  The Asthma continued to cause problems – more drugs administered usually under emergency conditions.  Laura also began to put on weight, a factor which no doctor commented on and her parents assumed was the side effect of the drugs.

Laura was now beginning to suffer quite severe back pain.  The doctors prescribed pain killers and asked Laura to touch her toes!!!

The frustration at the system that treated only the symptoms without identifying the cause was becoming intense.  Laura’s father was even told by one doctor to stop bringing Laura to him as this act was making her ill.

The family knew there was something wrong with Laura.  The doctors dished out pain killers and tested her for some of the conditions suggested by her parents.  Meanwhile Laura became withdrawn and her weight and pain increased.  She was frightened and confused – no one outside the family talked directly to her.

The summer of 1997 passed.  Laura seemed to be slightly better.  She was in constant pain and very tired but having her family and friends around seemed to help.  She was also attending a chiropractor in London who gave her some relief from the pain and told her what some of her problems were and how she could be helped.  Her parents now felt that although the relief was instant it could not be sustained because of the strenuous journey to and from the chiropractor.

After a year of frustration Laura seemed to be making small steps toward recovery.  However by October 1997 Laura was very ill.  The pain throughout her body was so intense she could not get out of a chair unaided.  More doctors, more pain killers and now a clinical psychologist.  She required full time care and the doctors were beginning to become concerned about the amount of time she was missing from school.  A referral to the Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children was finally considered by her doctors.  M.E. was suspected but her parents.  It was now impossible for Laura to travel to London for treatment by the chiropractor and a local practitioner was recommended.

In October 1997 Laura’s father took her to Basildon Chiropractic Clinic to see Dr. Gary Weber.  Laura was still too ill to attend school and found even short car journeys painful as the vibrations amplified her pain.

Gary examined Laura carefully and explained that her mechanical structure was misaligned.
